Now we're starting to feel kind of bad about making light of Quinton "Rampage" Jackson's recent arrest. It appears the former UFC light heavyweight champion might be going through some extremely tough times.
Our colleagues over at CagePotato.com report things just keep getting weirder .
And weirder .
And now the Associated Press has picked up on the story .

Seriously, did Quinton “Rampage,” Jackson
really think he was going to get away with it on Tuesday when he allegedly led California
police on a high-speed pursuit from Costa Mesa
to Newport Beach … in this truck?
Not to nitpick, but we would've gone with something a little more subtle.
After finally being apprehended, the former UFC light
heavyweight champ was charged with felony evading, reckless driving and hit-and-run and was held on $25,000 bail.
UPDATE (7/16/08): MMA Weekly reported that Jackson was released on bail and seemed conflicted about whether or not the champ had originally been deemed "unfit for booking " and taken to a hospital after his arrest.
On Tuesday, Yahoo sports’ Kevin Iole and Dave Meltzer broke the story in their usual nearly impenetrable English . We like Meltzer, we
even read the Pro Wrestling Observer Newsletter occasionally but, dear God,
sometimes the guy’s prose reads like a rough translation from a foreign
language. We suggest you wait a few days for the Yahoo editors to get their
hands on it before you try to slog your way through the story, so we’ll save
you the trouble with this one fairly comprehensible highlight, after the jump.

Our visions of WEC featherweight Leonard Garcia wearing a Hawaiian shirt and aviator sunglasses, chomping on a cigar and shouting orders from the deck of a jet-powered cigarette boat were dashed this week as federal drug trafficking charges against the fighter were dropped.
Allegations of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and a possible three-year prison term didn’t meet the needs of federal prosecutors in Texas, who won’t seek any further court action against Garcia. He still faces an obstruction of justice charge in state court, but that’s like child’s play compare to the chilling realities of Big Daddy federal time.
It’s good news, obviously, and we only joke about it in the most light-hearted way. We’ve always liked Garcia, who seemed like a nice guy and we’re looking forward to seeing him back in the WEC cage. We’re not sure what to make of his contention that the charges amounted to little more than “guilt by association,” but if Garcia is innocent enough for Uncle Sam – and for Greg Jackson, who is welcoming him back to his highly-touted camp in New Mexixo – he’s innocent enough for us.
It's great to know Garcia is a free man and that he's apparently not a drug kingpin. We still think this is pretty cool, though.
